DIRT

Are there any persons interested in community activism who would like to become part of DIRT?
Who wants to set aside political differences and work for the benefit of the community?

...I guess I thought people already did this based upon the issue...perhaps you mean something more organized?

??

If you're here to tell me it's my fault - you're right. I meant to do it. It was alot of fun. That's why I have this happy smile on my face.

Yes, Maggie. I am thinking of an overall organized holistic approach on an ongoing basis.
Anyone remember ALERTA? or the numerous neighborhood organizations that sprang up in the 1970s under the citizen participation process?

And I don't understand what you're after Roland. Give it to me like I'm simple.

Because I am. But I'm good with the way I am :-)

but not in the Toledo area.

I would be interested in getting the DIRT. I also look forward to "monthly" arguments with people.

Guest Zero, I believe you aspire to this motto from an eminem song

"If I could only use my power for good, I wouldn't.."

To me, you seem bright, sensitive, jaded and bitter all rolled into one. I am not attacking you, just observing through a cable wire.

Shit or get off the pot. Instead of your critical approach to almost everything posted, maybe you should toss out ideas, instead of barriers.

Anyway, I'm down. Whenever we want to meet up.

"These problems call for a lot of criticism."--criticism is your choice of action for what you see.

That is the best response you can conjure up? I think it is funny that I used your screen name in my reply and you can't even do that. "chum, local yokel, clue you in, ...common and sadly expected..." You have got to be kidding me.

I would love for you to tell me what I missed the mark on.

With all of your discussion on the elitists and imperialists, and their sucking of the marrow of the glass city, you sure are pretty arrogant and demeaning, discounting any thought process that doesn't fit into your very narrow worldview.

I did not laugh in your face or tell you your ideas were wrong or stupid. I said I was making an observation. And trust me, if you in person are different than who you play online, I will be the first one to say, "Nice to meet you, chum"

Anyway, Roland, you know me, cricket west is good.

"that before you act, you think, plan and discuss." I agree.

"where people demonize those who criticize since it's widely viewed as "negative". " I think it is ok, you just dish out too much sometime :)

"This city re-elected Carty again, which shows the tendency of the body politic to put its collective head in the sand ... " Amen to that

"THAT is the particular Kool-Aid

... what's the meeting schedule?

Yes. Proactive, Reactive, and Oversight all rolled into one.

If the approach to problem solving isn't based soundly in philosophy, you get derailed rather quickly and waste all the energy invested. I've had people of several sorts blatantly laugh in my face in Toledo when I spoke of "sound philosophical bases" ... so your reaction is common and sadly expected.

Toledo is filled to the brim and beyond with nearly intractable problems. These problems call for a lot of criticism. Simply put, you will have to get used to seeing my own criticisms as I fish madly in this sea of problems. Metaphorically speaking, we need a fleet of whalers to handle what Toledo's problem-set offers, yet I'm pullin' in fish each time my hook hits water and I'll be damned if I'll take being badmouthed for my catches by some "local yokel" on the shoreline.

Figuratively speaking, I'll surely see you at one of these DIRT meetings, Chum. See if you can guess which one I am. Heck, I might bring along my fishing pole, creel or floppy fisher's hat to help clue you in.

... because you have to also understand it. J, for some reason, you're acting like an idiot all of a sudden, as if you're clinging to some sacred cow of yours. I already told you:

"If the approach to problem solving isn't based soundly in philosophy, you get derailed rather quickly and waste all the energy invested."

... so it appears that you require further exposition, to wit:

You missed the mark on acknowledging that before you act, you think, plan and discuss. If you won't hear criticism, then you're just playing the same damned goofy card that is constantly played around Toledo -- where people demonize those who criticize since it's widely viewed as "negative". Criticism is discussion and there's no logical or sane way to dismiss it.

Take the Carty Factor, for instance. This city re-elected Carty again, which shows the tendency of the body politic to put its collective head in the sand ... while there are muffled exclamations that those of us above ground using our mouths are just letting everybody down. Time and time again, I hear people lavish praise upon Carty for being so "positive" and "passionate" for Toledo. Yet the man is clinically crazy and is a clear danger to the electorate.

THAT is the particular Kool-Aid

Please avoid the scheduling mistakes made by other organizations. For example, the TPS BOE meets on the 4th Tue of each month, so make sure you avoid that date for YOUR meetings. (The South Toledo Democrats also have a monthly meeting date.)
