the cloud of dark smoke

the cloud of dark smoke you see is from the exhaust fumes of the family cars leaving toledo. the title "little detroit" is becoming more appropriate as this city literally pushes its middle class to the 'burbs.

i can't wait to hear the scare mongering by our politicians. say it with me...."higher taxes, less services, higher taxes, less services".

If there has been consistent cuts in population, shouldn't there be expected cuts in services? Why go the other way?

The Blade is just playing up to the paradigm of using fear to secure politician position. The first paragraph of their article shows that they are playing right along:

i believe the potential shortfall is going to be much worse than we're being told.

in income taxes. Let's see, almost no new jobs - people are still leaving the city, home vacancy rate is way up.....

So fewer people live and work in Toledo and the Mayor is planning to budget the books on the belief that he'll see an increase in income taxes.

Well the only possible way to do that is to increase the percentage.....

i wonder if this is toledo's version of voodoo economics.

this is just another reason not to stay.
