From 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm Thursday evening (1-11-07), Toledoans will gather at the corner of Central and Secor to protest President Bush's decision to send an additional 21,500 troops to Iraq.

HM, thanks for the post and the update.

The aging hippies again. Saw them on the tv news-gray hair, balding, pony tails....Sad that some people get stuck in an era. But actually, though, I now have decided that I want the troops brought home too-for my own reasons-after much deliberation. I can't see any sense in keeping them there, supposedly 'fighting for freedom'. They're dying (or, sometimes even worse...) for absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, our OWN PEOPLE (voters), let alone Our OWN GOVERNMENT, are taking freedom away here and destroying the country from within. It's all a sick joke. Bring them home now. No more deaths or maiming for nothing.

... and an offense to American troops, while Bush puts more thousands of them into harm's way. We sure have strange definitions here in America. I'll have to go get my Orwell Dictionary to get ready for some more Newspeak from Bush, Cheney and the rest of the Imperial Household.

"wasn't talking about voters who voted dimocrat, if that's what you were thinking. They're misguided, but not 'the enemy' ."

Democrats are misguided, but yet its' the Republicans who "continue to vote freedom away" and its' the Democrats proposing to bring troops home.

As much as this war sucks and Bush is a moron for going in there, it wouldn't be very realistic to up and leave. I hope I'm wrong though.

I am not for sending 21,500 troops to Iraq as a solution for winning this war. In my opinion that amount of troops is way to small to assure victory. It will only prolong the war and and cause additional casualties.

I also am not for bringing our troops home in a cut-n-run scenerio. This will only be viewed as victory for our enemy and embolden them for continued violence and acts of terror against the U.S.

I say...we need to formulate an overwhelming force of 500,000+ troops through a multi-national force including Arab states, sweep the country, close the borders and shut this conflict out in short order.

I agree with KrazyKat.

Time for a phased redeployment

I wasn't talking about voters who voted dimocrat, if that's what you were thinking. They're misguided, but not 'the enemy' . I was talking about those who continue to vote freedom away. What's the sense in spilling American blood on foreign soil for something you no longer have in your own country? Bring them back now.

Congratulations on your enlightenment. Sincerely.

Democrats have been entirely shut out of National politics since 2000* and entirely shut out of Congressional politics since 1994, yet it's, of course, the "Dimocrats" fault that we're at this point today.

Patriot Act, Domesting Spying, failed and failing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, posturing for attacks on Iran, Nuclear North Korea, the regression of russia, on and on and on.... All under the watchful eye of the Grand 'Ole Party.

crap like issue 5. Get it now, GZ? I would never wear a uniform for this country again. Bring them home. Now.
